“Embracing the Expressions“
Our one-week monsoon retreat through Kerala’s hidden gems was an enchanting journey of expression and discovery. We began in Fort Kochi, Kerala’s art capital by a walk through the old colonial streets. The day ended with an immersive Kathakali session and a vibrant live performance that left us in awe. From there, we journeyed to a lesser-known island flanked by coconut trees before heading to Munnar. Nestled in a stunning tea estate, we learned the art of tea-making and toured the Ripple Tea Museum, with the lush hills as our backdrop.
Next, we discovered the hidden valley of Vagamon, where we visited a Christian monastery and crafted essential oils based on our body’s doshas. We then set off on an adventurous trek to a hidden waterfall before ending the day with heartfelt storytelling among the group.
Our retreat continued to the small town of Pala, where we learned about rubber production and stayed in a peaceful boutique villa. We wrapped up the retreat back in Kochi, staying with a local family and attending a fascinating Kalaripayattu workshop.
Throughout the journey, we embraced the rich Indian culture, connected through soulful workshops, and enjoyed some of the best food we’ve had in any retreat so far.
